Kaizer Chiefs suffered only their third league defeat to Maritzburg United on Saturday with a costly mistake from stopper Daniel Akpeyi. Fans have shared their views on whether it is time for Itumeleng Khune to make a return.
While Daylon Claasen received the plaudits for his quick-fire brace, Nigerian international Akpeyi will shoulder some of the blame for the Team of Choice's opener with what seemed to be a lack of judgement.
SL Supporter @hamilton-chauke0, feels that despite his mistake, Akpeyi should not be punished.
His sentiments are echoed by lindokuhle-elihle-omhle0 who says the 33-year-old's lapse in judgement does not necessarily mean that he cost the team as Amakhosi were not in the lead to begin with.
However, @khsination feels that in the case that Ernst Middendorp does in fact drop Akpeyi for the highly-anticipated Soweto Derby, it should not be viewed as punishment, but rather an opportunity for Khune to step up after his clean sheet in their Nedbank Cup triumph over Royal Eagles.
Moreover, Simza@$ feels that Khune will add to Chiefs' attacking impetus should he start the match against the in-form Buccaneers with his world-class distribution.
