Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana earned big praise from Super Eagles and Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored the winning penalty to send Nigeria through to the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Bafana's dream run in the Ivory Coast came to an end of Wednesday evening after they were beaten 4-2 on penalties by Nigeria.

Speaking in his post-match interview, the former Manchester City striker hailed Bafana as a "wonderful team" and that they have quality in all positions.

Iheanacho made his first appearance of this year's tournament in Wednesday's semi-final, showing nerves of steel as he slotted Nigeria's fourth penalty to break South African hearts.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "AFCON: Bafana Bafana Praised By Ex-Man City Striker" story:

"Indeed they are a good team, while others never gave Bafana Bafana any chance to reach the last 16," Skyvodka.

"KHULISO MUDAU AND MOTHOBI MVALA SOLD THE TEAM FOR THAT GAME," says De Paul.

"When the team wins no individuals are singled out and when it loses you point fingers. You can't stoop any lower than that my good sir,  I am speechless," replies sakhilem9.

"The only blemish for Bafana Bafana was their weak bench. That's an area I hope Broos will improve. There are some decent players local and abroad who could have given that bench a boost. E.g. Raynes, and Mayo etc.," says makausemakause53.

"Yet some other nobodies will still say Bafana reached that stage by luck," says collinszamba4.

Despite the disappointment of Bafana Bafana missing out on a place in the AFCON final, head coach Hugo Broos is proud of what has been achieved by the team.

After their penalties loss to Nigeria, Broos' troops are set to take on the DR Congo in the Third-Place Playoff on Saturday night. The Belgian tactician is happy that Bafana have restored some pride.

Broos mentioned that the most important thing is that "everyone knows South Africa as a good playing team" after their solid AFCON campaign.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Broos: Now Everyone Knows SA Is A Good Team" story:

"This thing of the coach selecting players that don't fit his style might be his fate. It's understandable that his selection might be influenced by the fact he has a need to have players with winning mentality, which right now in South Africa is the Sundowns players. But, they had to struggle to adapt to the coach's playing style," says winterv.me.

"What people don't know is that it is a football strategy to allow the opponent to dominate you if you're not really trusting yourself with going pound-to-pound. You allow them to dominate but cover the critical areas and only wait for the right moments. This is how teams can have only one shot at goal and that one shot becomes the goal.

"This is how Morocco fell. Against Tunisia, Bafana decided to sit back because even a draw or even a loss with a respectable score line would take them through. You don't go pound-to-pound against a team that you know is stronger and more prepared than you," says collinszamba4.

"As much as they reached the semi-finals, which was a good thing, but Bafana games are boring to watch. Even though we cry of not having luck against Nigeria, l think Cape Verde should be worse because they dominated us all over and Williams was very lucky to save penalties, which showed against Nigeria," says @Terry2007.

"Some people just hate everything. They are just negative about everything. There is no luck in soccer. It is hard work meeting opportunity, not luck guys. Bafana played very well according to the demands of the games. A team cannot pass group stages all the way to reach semifinals, only to be defeated on penalties and for someone to say it's luck. A goalkeeper saving four penalties and someone still says 'luck'. You must learn to work hard for yourselves guys, don't wait for luck," replies collinszamba4.

"The one thing that I liked about you coach, is your selection of local players, which is a rare preference on other coaches," says winterv.me.

"From the group stages, Bafana played purely on luck... but it was going to run out soon. This Hugo Broos guy lost the AFCON because of his negativity towards other teams, I'm happy they lost, because when we win, they praise Sundowns players and not the squad as a whole. Big games like these show you that guys like Lorch could have made a difference, even Mayo. Otherwise, thank you Nigeria, thank you so much. I'm so happy," says De Paul.

"Self hate, you need to be liberated," replies Shikabala.

"We don't need people like you in our football," replies ghettovillage411.

"I'm a Chiefs fan, but after what Sundowns players did for our flag in the Ivory Coast... I definitely salute that brand. I so wish that other teams can try emulate what Sundowns are doing, especially in continental showpieces, because that will add to the pool of experience which will help us regain our dominance.
