Reader's Voice: Where Is The Logic In Signing A 23-Year-Old From Mvela?

Reader's Voice: Where Is The Logic In Signing A 23-Year-Old From Mvela?

Kaizer Chiefs today announced the signing of Ajax youth-product Yagan Sasman on a three-year deal as they look to bolster the squad ahead of the 2019/20 season. One supporter is of the opinion that the transfer lacks logic.

Kaizer Chiefs currently have Philani Zulu, Happy Mashiane, Siphosakhe Nitya-Ntiya and Letlhogonolo Mirwa as their left-back options.

They have strengthened this area with the acquisition of Sasman, who can also play as a left centre-back.

Sasman is technically sound, has good physicality about him and can bomb forward if needs be, and with Chiefs' struggles in that position in their 2-0 loss to Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup last weekend, one can see why the signing makes sense.

One fan seems to think fitness levels as well as the decision to let go of 29-year-old PSL journeyman, Sibusiso Khumalo was a mistake and that a 23-year-old NFD player is not the solution to the club's woes.

SL Supporter: @Chiwo

"Kaizer Chiefs need a good coach and a proper structure (technical) especially fitness trainer. Why get rid of Khumalo with good football crededntials and experience and go sign a 23-year-old from Mvela? Where is the logic in that?"

While the fan makes a valid point, it could be worth noting that Chiefs are investing in the future by signing a player who was once on the radar of Ajax Amsterdam.

Do you think Sasman will be a good fit for this Amakhosi side?
