Reader's Voice: Rulani Is Just Like Komphela

Reader's Voice: Rulani Is Just Like Komphela

Rhulani Mokwena has alluded to the fact that the Orlando Pirates head coaching position is one of the most difficult jobs in the country.

Fans however, feel that just like Steve Komphela, the young coach says all the right things, yet fails to implement them.

It is an open secret that Mokwena's tenure as Bucs' head coach did not get off to the best of starts. His team has been guilty of firing blanks, which led to them being dumped out both the CAF Champions League and the MTN8 in quick succession.

However, Mokwena is one of the most promising coaches in the country and at just 34, still has a long way to go in the managerial game.

Fans are of the opinion that perhaps Rulani needs to be more practical and less philosophical, like Steve Komphela during his Kaizer Chiefs reign. Komphela spewed one melodic philosophical phrase after the other, yet when it came to the business on the field, things were less convincing, which spelled the start of their ongoing trophy drought.

Fans have urged Mokwena to do less talking and more winning and use the quality players at his disposal to win football matches.

"Rulani needs to stop being too theoretical. I have a feeling that he over analyzes things at times. We have a solid squad with some of the most talented players in the league. Experimenting with new formations will also cost him a lot, esp now that the results are not forthcoming. If I were him I would go to the 4-5-1 formation, introduce Chabalala in the heart of defence, have Mhango and Shonga fighting it out for that number 10 position. Mulenga as my nine. The wing play would be the usual suspects."

"Rulani you got big mouth when you embarrass Solinas you never thought one day it will be you on that seat, bro i don't wish you well and am glad seems you will be facing Wits at at your next match you won't win."

Do you think that Rulani can succeed as Pirates' head coach?
