Reader's Voice: Pirates Needed This German Coach!

Reader's Voice: Pirates Needed This German Coach!

There have been mixed emotions from Orlando Pirates fans regarding the appointment of German coach Joe Zinnbauer.  Check it out.

Pirates shocked the local football fraternity when they announced the appointment of head coach Zinnbauer, who takes up the head coaching position, with Rhulani Mokwena set to take the role of assistant coach.

SL Supporter @agrippa-nyakauru0 has welcomed this bold decision by the club and revealed that he is pleased that Rhulani will remain in the fold.

"I think that this is a good move and also the fact that Rulani will be still part of the team. It will help the new coach to quickly adapt to the way Pirates play. We will now have three coaches making decisions, and it will give us a good change, and I just want to say that players must step up now because I don't see any seriousness in our lovely team. Let us win all the matches that we have left and it's possible with the introduction of this German coach."

His sentiments are echoed by SL Supporter @FHEDZI IJ who feels that the coach who has a German upbringing will implement a German model to the way the Buccaneers play.

"We are going to witness German football at its best. 1. Consistency 2. Hard work 3. Planning 4. Mentality 5. Technique not physique (Germany's focus on technique, tactical awareness and positioning allows talented players, however diminutive; to make the grade as long as they're good enough. Good luck to Orlando Pirates! Happy people! Things are going to change...I cannot wait."

On the contrary, SL Supporter @NazziTheSecond is sceptical about this move from Pirates, citing the coach's lack of trophies won as his main area of concern. He also fears that this could be a reoccurrence of the Kjell Joneveret saga.

"I just googled him, no cup whatsoever, even his latest record is very poor. Honestly I didn't like Rhulani but I highly doubt this is the guy to solve our problems. Even when Kjell was I hired I had the same feeling, it seems he has the potential as his record as a reserve coach looks good."
