Experienced Robyn Johannes is a free agent after he received his clearance from Bidvest Wits.
One reader seems to think that the defender never should have joined the Clever Boys in the first place.
Johannes was the club captain and a key part of the Citizens defense before making the move north to Johannesburg in 2018.
A host of factors including injuries, suspensions and the Bafana pair of Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo and Buhle Mkhwanazi have limited Johannes' game time at the Clever Boys.
It proved to be a case of the grass not being greener on the other side as Wits surprisingly released the 33-year-old, as well as two other players after the transfer window had shut closed on Monday.
Johannes is not short of offers and there are a few sides, including Benni McCarthy's City, that are said to be interested in his services. McCarthy is a known admirer of the defender who turned out for the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the past.
The Citizens' central defenders include Keanu Cupido, Taariq Fielies, Kouassi Kouadja, Keith Groenewald and left fullback Edmilson Dove who has been slotting in as a makeshift centre-back.
