Orlando Pirates' mercurial attacker Thembinkosi Lorch has broken his silence on why he did not leave the club after reported interest from Belgium and France.
Lorch faced the media for the first time after an extended period of silence. The 26-year-old is on the back of what was probably his best season in his career, having swept aside everything in his path.
Apart from being named 2018/19 Absa Premiership Player of the Season, Lorch also proved to be a national hero, where despite limited game-time in the tournament, managed to see Bafana past Egypt at the AFCON.
He reportedly attracted the interest of Royal Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge, as well as two more French Ligue 1 outfits in Dijon and Toulouse FC.
Lorch revealed to the media that he had offers from clubs overseas, but that the offers were not suitable for himself and Pirates.
There are some fans who seem to think that 'Nyoso' will end up regretting his decision, hinting at the fact that football is a short career and people often regret the chances they do not take.
Others had likened the situation to that of Teko Modise, who was also once a darling for Bucs, but was reportedly prevented from moving abroad when the opportunity presented itself.
In addition, there are fans who feel Europe is not all that it is cut out to be and players need not leave the comfort of home to ply their trade in obscure European leagues.

"This was your chance to shine overseas boy , because one thing for sure, you will never surpass last season's performance. Your value will drop and Pirates will send you to Chippa on your way to first division."

"Football is very short career. You are 26-years-old and you had opportunity to go overseas and they sabotaged you and fed you with English words "the contract or deal is not good (for) you and the club." Opportunity comes once in life and you will never get this chance and age is no longer on your side."

"I think I've seen this movie before with Teko Modise. Hope Nyoso doesn't fall to the tricks of Irvin Khoza because after that he hates you for good. If you don't agree ask Teko who was snubbed for the Chairman's Award at the PSL Awards because he left Pirates and Khoza hasn't come to terms with it."

"Your time will come Thembinkosi. Just keep on working hard and overseas teams will come knocking."
Do you think Lorch will regret not moving abroad when he had the chance?
