Mamelodi Sundowns shock decision to insert a clause that states that on-loan Maritzburg United striker Jeremy Brockie cannot face them when the two sides meet in the next two weeks has not been well-received by fans.
The Chloorkop-based side have been labelled spineless and cowardice for their decision.
Brockie has endured a torrid time while on the books of the Brazilians. A combination of bad form, a lack of faith by Pitso Mosimane and niggling 'injuries' meant that the New Zealander spent more time in the stands than on the field.
In search of regular game-time elsewhere, the 31-year-old made a transfer deadline day switch to Maritzburg United, where he will be reconnected with Eric Tinkler, who he shared a fruitful relationship during their time at Supersport United.
Sundowns are set to face Maritzburg 10 days from now, however it has been revealed that a clause in Brockie's contract states that he cannot face his parent club in the encounter.
The news angered fans who voiced their opinion against the Tshwane giants. Some have stated that bigger teams like Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have not done this kind of thing in the past and that perhaps they fear that Brockie might return to haunt them.

"Sundowns are at it again, you can't even understand why they call themselves a big team? Whoever implemented this kind of contract agreement knows nothing about football. Before making such decisions, think about the future of that player. Are you helping or killing him? So why loan him if you do not want him to play against you? I think that can be done in street football not PSL. Sundowns must show us why they are the 9 times PSL champions."

"Sundowns management are such cowards, they drafted this boring policy to prevent players playing against them simply because they are afraid of them yet they do not play them. In fact, they are killing player's talent by doing so. How can you be loaned at the same time be prevented playing against your own team, that's ridiculous and selfish! They are repeating the very same thing which they did to Sandile 'AK47' Ndlovu while he was loaned to Dynamos. Chiefs and Pirates have been loaning players. In fact, all the PSL teams except this selfish team but this has never happened to the loaned players. I think PSL must intervene in this regard."

"I fail to understand that some teams want all the best players to themselves, and when those players are loaned they should not play against, to me that's selfish and coward."

"Sundowns are just scared that those same players they've failed to give them game-time are going to prove the coach wrong by doing better against them."
Do you think Mamelodi Sundowns are justified to insert these clauses into players' contracts?
