Fans Blast Chiefs Fringe Players, Laud Youngsters

It was a weekend of contrasting fortunes for PSL log leaders Kaizer Chiefs. The Glamour Boys swept Mamelodi Sundowns aside convincingly in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup on Saturday.

However, they failed to replicate this when they fell to Bloemfontein Celtic in the Macufe Cup the very next day.

As a result, fans have questioned the commitment and contribution of their fringe players.

Chiefs fielded a side made up mostly of players who do not feature regularly for Ernst Middendorp's side when they came up against Siwelele.

It was an opportunity for the likes of Siphelele Ntshangase, Kabelo Mahlasela and new addition James Kotei to stake a claim for game time. The game also saw the introduction of youngsters Keletso Sifama and Sizwe Twala.  

However, it was a lacklustre display from the Glamour Boys and a faction of fans have provided their verdict on the performance

It wasn't all doom and gloom for some though, who took an optimistic approach to the match, despite the result. They also highlighted the fact that the Soweto giants and breeding fresh new talent.
