Tshepo Gumede A Free Agent After Cape Umoya Sale

Tshepo Gumede A Free Agent After Cape Umoya Sale

A former Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates player has become a free agent after parting ways with Cape Umoya United, who have since sold the club to the owners of Venda Football Academy.

Tshepo Gumede spent a season with Cape Umoya in the second tier, making a return to the professional game after leaving AmaZulu in 2019.

Cape Umoya has since been sold to the owners of Venda Football Academy and many of the players who were with the Mother City outfit, such as Michael Morton, Eleazar Rodgers, Gabriel Nyoni, Mark Mayambela and Gumede, will not be moving to Limpopo.

Nyoni suffered a career-threatening injury earlier this year, but he has informed the Siya crew that the owners of Cape Umoya have promised to help him through his rehabilitation until he has recovered.

Gumede made a promising start to his career in the top-flight with Platinum Stars and attracted interest from big clubs. He joined the Buccaneers in 2015, but he was not there for long. Cape Town City snapped him up in 2016 and he was there for two years before joining Usuthu in 2019.

The player is currently on the lookout for a new club for the 2021/22 campaign. At 30, Gumede still has a few years left in him.
