No Clarity Over Zwane’s Chiefs Role

Just under a month has passed since the announcement of a coaching change at Kaizer Chiefs and still there is no clarity over Arthur Zwane's role at the club.

'10111', as the former winger is affectionately known, for the second time in a matter of months, was amongst a host of changes announced by the Naturena-based outfit following unsatisfactory results.

First, he was redeployed to serve as assistant coach to Molefi Ntseki in June, just one year after being appointed as the side's head coach.

More recently, the 50-yearold again saw his role within Amakhosi change as he was sent back to the club's development structures, where he first made a name for himself and worked his way up the ranks after calling time on his professional career.

"Assistant Coach, Arthur Zwane will return to his former role within the development structures of the Club," the club said, in part, in a statement at the time of the changes.

Zwane's former role, as indicated by the club, was that of DStv Diski Challenge head coach, a role currently occupied by coach Vela Khumalo, creating further uncertainty over his new role, with indications that the Soweto giants are still looking for a role for him.

Now, insiders have informed Soccer Laduma that Amakhosi's top brass are yet to inform Zwane of his new occupation as the coach appears to be uncertain of what duties to assume going forward and is yet to receive clear indication of what his role is.

"It looks like Zwane doesn't know what his role is and has been floating around for the last month. He has a knack for identifying raw diamonds from the locations, so perhaps he could play a role in helping the team with scouting, a department that has been lacking in recent years," a source said.

As recently reported by the Siya crew, it was Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung's affinity to the long-serving Zwane that saw him survive the most recent change on the technical bench, though it remains to be seen what management have lined up for a man that has dedicated the last 22 years of his life to the Glamour Boys.
