Ngcobo Facing Big Few Months Ahead

Njabulo Ngcobo will have a big few months ahead of him, with Kaizer Chiefs yet to decide on his future. The defender's three-year contract at Naturena is due to expire at the end of June 2024 and the club is yet to express an interest in keeping him beyond then.

He had a promising start to the season with former coach Molefi Ntseki involving him in his plans, but his departure has seen the player featuring less under interim coach Cavin Johnson, who has preferred Given Msimango ahead of the 29-year-old.

Ngcobo played 90 minutes just once since Johnson was appointed interim coach. Since then, he has been an unused substitute twice and came on in the final five minutes in the Soweto giants' last two DStv Premiership matches, against Polokwane City and Moroka Swallows.

The drop in game-time will no doubt be a concern for the former PSL Defender of the Season and his camp, considering he is heading into the final six months of his deal with Amakhosi.

In total, the ex-AmaZulu FC man has made seven appearances in all competitions and will be hoping to get more opportunities in the second half of the campaign to increase his chances of getting a new contract at Naturena.

It's understood Usuthu are monitoring the player's situation and could make a move…
