Hendrick 'Pule' Ekstein is still waiting to hear from AmaZulu FC regarding his future with the club as his contract nears its expiry. After he was ordered to train with the development side at the Durban club during the first half of the season, the player was handed a lifeline under former coach Romain Folz during the latter's brief spell.

He impressed with his work-rate, which was enough to keep him in the squad under Pablo Franco Martin when he came in prior to the start of the season to replace Folz.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star has made seven appearances in the league, with five starts (excluding Wednesday's match against Sekhukhune). With his contract set to expire in June, Usuthu are unlikely to extend it, according to sources.

"Ekstein is facing an uncertain future with AmaZulu as the club remains mum about their plans for him. The club had already decided that the player was surplus to requirements when Folz decided that he wanted him back in the first-team squad and that's what helped him to have an extended stay. His contract will expire at the end of the season and it is unlikely to be extended," a source revealed.
