Former Bidvest Wits' Jethren Barr is holding out for a move in Europe, with a possibility of one in January. The goalkeeper has been without a club since leaving Northern Irish side Portadown at the end of last season after they got relegated and is still on the lookout for a new team to play for.
A few months ago, the 28-year-old was on trial at Republic of Ireland giants Shamrock Rovers but was unable to secure a deal with the side. At the time, Barr told the Siya crew that the club could have a look at him again, but it's unclear if he will get another opportunity to get assessed by Rovers.
While there is believed to have been interest in the goalkeeper from PSL sides, he is determined to stay in Europe, as he is currently in Northern Ireland.
"I am hoping I can sign for one of the big teams," he said.
'Inkosi Yabelungu', as he is affectionately known, previously had a stint with Maritzburg United and was part of Bafana Bafana's COSAFA Cup campaign a few months ago, which gave him an opportunity to get some valuable game-time at international level.
With January just over two weeks away from now, Barr will be looking to secure a club, and this publication understands that he has been working hard to ensure he is ready for when he signs on the dotted line.
