A decision on Kamohelo Mahlatsi at Moroka Swallows will be made before the end of the year, with the club being "50-50" on the deal, as revealed by a source close to proceedings.

The midfielder was released by Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season after struggling to win a regular starting berth and then joined up with the Dube Birds a few weeks ago, with the hope of rejoining the side he initially left to sign with Amakhosi.

The club has been assessing Mahlatsi lately and he is believed to have shown promising signs during the last few weeks. It's understood that the club is in two minds about bringing him on board, with chairman David Mogashoa not against signing the player he gave an opportunity to when the Dube Birds made a return to topflight football a few seasons ago.

The club is fond of the dreadlocked star and are not closed to the idea of giving him an opportunity to revive his career after the disappointing period he spent at Naturena. The former SuperSport United man, who made just seven appearances in the colours of Chiefs last season, is available as a free agent and can be signed before the transfer window period opens in January.

Swallows, meanwhile, are unlikely to do a lot of business during the January transfer window.
