The full back explained that his club knew that a top three finish in the league was out of reach and therefore they put all their focus into reaching the Nedbank Cup final, which they will compete in on Saturday against SuperSport United.
"Since we knew that we won't be in the top three and qualify for Africa," he told the Siya crew. "We wanted to reach the Nedbank Cup finals."
The 28-year-old went on to say that the final will be a difficult encounter and that his team will give their all to come away with the trophy.
"Now that we have done that, we have to win, but it won't be easy against a team with a good coach like Stuart Baxter," he continued. "But this is the only chance for us to win a trophy this season so we have to do our best and be the best team on the day and win the trophy," Matlaba concluded.
