Orlando Pirates coach, Eric Tinkler has said that his team did all they could to win the Nedbank Cup, but that Saturday's final just wasn't their day.
Baxter Maintains Cup Final Record In South Africa
The 45-year-old's team have had an up and down season, finishing seventh in the Absa Premiership, but reached two cup finals only to finish the season without any silverware. Despite this, Tinkler believes his team has been playing well.
"You know we fought hard to reach the Nedbank Cup final after some bad results in the league when we were still playing in Africa," he told the Siya crew. "But we changed things around and have been playing very well and even in the final we did our best."
He then went on to say that his team did everything that they could to win the final, but it just didn't work out for them at the end of the day.
"It just wasn't our day," the former Bafana Bafana defender added. "The players did everything they could do but it didn't work out on the day."
Chiefs Pirates Finish Without Silverware
The Nedbank Cup was the second final that Pirates lost, after they fell short in the CAF Confederation Cup showpiece earlier in the season.
