The top eight was decided on the weekend with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United joining Sundowns, Bidvest Wits, Platinum Stars, Aces, Chiefs and Chippa as confirmed MTN8 competitors for the new season, with the games being selected based on their league finish.

In keeping with the same format, the team who finished first will play eighth, second place play seventh and so on, with the semifinals set to take place over the course of two legs.

Last season's champions, Ajax Cape Town, will not have the chance to defend their title after 10th, while Chippa United will get to participate in the tournament for the first time in their existence.
