League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, will take on SuperSport United in next season's MTN8, while Kaizer Chiefs will face Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The top eight was decided on the weekend with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United joining Sundowns, Bidvest Wits, Platinum Stars, Aces, Chiefs and Chippa as confirmed MTN8 competitors for the new season, with the games being selected based on their league finish.
In keeping with the same format, the team who finished first will play eighth, second place play seventh and so on, with the semifinals set to take place over the course of two legs.
Last season's champions, Ajax Cape Town, will not have the chance to defend their title after 10th, while Chippa United will get to participate in the tournament for the first time in their existence.

Seven of the eight teams in the upcoming MTN8 competition have won the top eight tournament at some point since it began as the BP Top Eight in 1972, with Chiefs, Dikwena, Pirates and Sundowns all winning it at least once in the last decade.
