Spencer: The Mistake Downs Could Make

Orlando Pirates will take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday as they try to defend the trophy they had won last season.

Despite Bucs being in poor form, former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Derrick Spencer believes Pirates will win 2-0 and lift the cup.

Spencer was talking to Soccer Laduma in a one-on-one interview where he stated that it will be an exciting game where Pirates will come out victorious on the day.

"It will be a tough one. It will be an exciting game as both teams are currently playing good football but I personally give it to Pirates," Spencer told Soccer Laduma.

"I think they will win this 2-0. I was talking to Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi who said it will be a mistake if Sundowns are not worried about Pirates this time.

"The players' mindset should be in the right mode as well because this is a tricky game because despite recent negative results for Pirates, they will be a dangerous side on the day.

"This is a cup game and the approach is different for every team and Pirates will be a different  side," Spencer told Soccer Laduma.

Spencer added that for him as an MTN8 Legend, he chose Orlando Pirates as his team while Lucky Lekgwathi chose Sundowns.

"You know if Pirates win this game I will be given R180 000 to donate to a charity organisation of my choice and that's why I also want Pirates to win.

"But yeah apart from that I believe that Pirates would want to use this game and change the bad results they have had in the past four games and bounce back and that's why I believe Pirates will lift the trophy on Saturday," Spencer concluded.
