Former CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns have been drawn into a group which will see them playing against Fagrie Lakay's side, Pyramids FC.

Sundowns, who will be playing in the MTN8 final this weekend, booked their spot in the group stages after beating Tanzanian side Bumamuru FC and will face Egyptian side Pyramids, TP Mazembe of DRC and Mauritanian outfit Nouadhibou in Group A.

Last season they were under 10 minutes away from reaching the final, but an own goal from defender Mothobi Mvala saw them being knocked out of the competition by Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.

Sundowns finished the group stage campaign last season without a defeat, winning four and drawing two. This included an emphatic 5-2 victory over eventual champions Al Ahly in Tshwane, a game Sundowns supporters will most certainly never forget.
