A large portion of Makudubela's youth was spent with the Brazilians who he joined directly from the Transnet School of Excellence.
His chances in the Sundowns first team were limited and Makudubela joined a host of teams in the National First Division, DStv Premiership and even abroad as he enjoyed a stint in Georgia.
But now, 'Skudu' as he is affectionately known, has found a home in Tanzania, where he has been a key part of Young Africans under head coach Miguel Gamondi and is looking to inflect pain on his former paymasters.
"I think there is a lot that I can share with my colleagues [about Sundowns]," Makudubela told journalists.
"I have done that before but with the coach having coached the team before, he knows the Sundowns culture. Mamelodi Sundowns' culture has never changed, it has been the same and credit to Mpho [Maruping] who has done the analysis of the team. We are quite aware of what we can do, and we have done our homework.
"I am going to make South Africans very proud by winning with a Tanzanian team," he added.
A place in the CAF Champions League semi-final is at stake with the two teams locking horns at the Loftus Versveld Stadium.
Kickoff is at 8:00pm.
