Tsotetsi: How Chiefs Could Spend R40m

As reported by the Siya crew, Portuguese club Vitoria SC have tabled a R40 million offer to Kaizer Chiefs for their striker Ashley Du Preez.

If the move to Europe materializes, this cash injection would be of great value to Amakhosi as they aim to build a strong squad for the upcoming season.

Many fans are wondering how the Glamour Boys would utilise the R40 million for strengthening their first team. Former defender Mokete Tsotetsi believes that investing in young players with potential could significantly boost the current squad.

In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Tsotetsi stated that the money could ease the financial pressure on the club and allow them to acquire two or three young players they have been targeting.

"That's a lot of money. If it all happens and the deal goes through that's the money that can change the team this season. They can invest on young players to boost the squad. Not from the development but the ones they wanted to buy and sign but could not afford. With that money they can buy those young quality talented players who could go a long way in helping the team going forward," Tsotetsi told the Siya crew.

The former defender added that the team could also save some of the money to further strengthen the squad in January.

"For now they can use some money to buy young players. Then save the rest of the money for January. You know January is an important window period after seeing what they have done in the first half of the season and what they want to add in January and then use that money. That will help them have a good budget to strengthen the team and I think if they can do that they would have used the money wisely and perfectly," Tsotetsi concluded.

Chiefs will open the 2024/25 season with an away game against Marumo Gallants on September 14.
