Kaizer Chiefs' New Signings Have Made An Impact

Kaizer Chiefs seemingly went for a 'quality over quantity' approach in the last transfer window, and Bobby Motaung is pleased with how their new signings have helped their title challenge.

The Glamour Boys signed just five new players at the start of the 2019/20 season despite releasing plenty more, with Samir Nurkovic, Kearyn Baccus, Yagan Sasman, Lazarous Kambole and James Kotei all coming in to bolster their ranks.

Nurkovic is pushing for the Golden Boot after bagging eight goals in 12 Absa Premiership games, while Baccus has made 11 league appearances and Sasman/Kambole have made eight as the Amakhosi climbed to the top of the table.

Kotei, who has been linked with a January exit, is the only player yet to show his worth at Naturena as he still awaits his competitive debut, and Motaung has spoken of his delight at the way the fresh faces have impacted the side.

Chiefs' Football Manager told the club's official website, "This season we embarked on a journey of change. We started off with a team camp of a different kind. The camp emphasised on developing teamwork and camaraderie among the team. We also acquired players in areas of need. We brought in five players after releasing no less than thirteen players.

"I'm glad to see at least three of the five players playing regularly… It's a good return because sometimes the new players take time to acclimatise to the new environment. But already we've seen Nurkovic making inroads, while Sasman and Baccus have cemented their roles in the team. I'm pleased with their progress and trust very soon Kambole and Kotei will make their presence felt."

Chiefs' next game will see them face SuperSport United on January 4 as they look to make a winning start to 2020.
