The story
The 2024/25 Carling Knockout Cup tournament was launched in Johannesburg on Monday afternoon, in a sparkling event that saw Amapiano stars, Focalistic and Pabi Cooper providing the entertainment.
The tournament is ready to usher in it's second year after being launched last season, with Stellenbosch FC claiming the crown over TS Galaxy in a thrilling final in Durban, winning 5-4 on penalties.
Some of the standout Round of 16 fixtures will see defending champions Stellies heading to Durban to face AmaZulu, while Soweto Giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were drawn against SuperSport United and Magesi respectively.
Mamelodi Sundowns will hope to improve on their first round exit last year when they host Golden Arrows, with the Round of 16 set to kick-off next weekend.
Focalistic and Pabi Cooper performed hits such as "Banyana Ke Bafana" and the latter's new hit, "Thula Mabota", which was thoroughly enjoyed by Sekhukhune skipper, Linda Mntambo.
Mntambo hilariously compared one of Pabi Cooper's back-up dancers to his friend and former teammate at Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United winger, Vincent Pule.
