One of the standout performers at the 2024 Engen Knockout Challenge was goalkeeper Bilquees Salie, who walked away with the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award following a string of commanding displays between the posts for Salt River Blackpool.

The 17,year,old shot, stopper was instrumental in her team’s progression through the group stages, conceding just once and keeping three clean sheets along the way.

According to respected scout Gareth Ngaca, Salie reminded him of Andile Dlamini, the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Banyana Banyana goalkeeper, particularly in how comfortable she is with the ball at her feet and her ability to start play from the back.

“She’s very vocal, a natural leader and her distribution is excellent,” said Ngaca.

“Her shot, stopping was top, class, and she brought real presence to the backline. She commands her area like a seasoned professional.”
