Micho Explains Why Pirates Could Be Tired

Micho Explains Why Pirates Could Be Tired

In explaining what was far from an ideal start in their CAF Champions League group stages opener, Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic has said that conditions during their two previous domestic games could have possibly disrupted their preparation away to FC Platinum.

Pirates were held to a goalless draw in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – returning home with just a point and now having to quickly ready themselves to host Guinea's Horoya on Friday evening in the second match.

"We have never been cry babies," Sredojevic told the media, referring to the wet weather conditions during their game against Highlands Park and Chippa United in the Absa Premiership.

"But I think the conditions at home and in our game in Tembisa have affected us and produced an element of tiredness. We believe we were strong in all aspects to try and succeed. There is a concern in the sense that we were supposed to be more adventurous in all aspects. The last time a South African team came here (Zimbabwe) they lost, but this time we have managed a draw. There are five matches to go into the group stages and we can improve."

It is the Pirates coach's conclusion that following a 1-1 stalemate in the other fixture between Esperance and Horoya, their opponent on Friday, their group is now wide open and difficult to predict.
