Jackson Mabokgwane Motivated With Clean Sheet On Return For Orlando Pirates

Jackson Mabokgwane

Jackson Mabokgwane is a happy player right now, and all because of Orlando Pirates' clean sheet in their match on his return to the starting line-up in the CAF Champions League.

Mabokgwane, who was last between the sticks for Bucs in domestic PSL football during their Telkom Knockout semi-final match against Kaizer Chiefs on November 24, has been a go-to man for continental duties for Milutin Sredojevic and his technical team, as he has played in all of Bucs' matches so far in the competition.

Siyabonga Mpontshane was in goals for Bucs in both the team's Absa Premiership matches so far this year, against Highlands Park and Chippa United respectively, before Mabokgwane was handed a start against Zimbabwe's FC Platinum in the Champions League this past weekend.

While delighted with the clean sheet, the 30-year-old goalkeeper has emphasised on the importance of Bucs winning their upcoming match in the continental competition, which will be against Guinea's Horoya AC on Friday.

"Obviously, for us, having played away and having kept clean-sheet away was very, very important…to keep a clean-sheet away and get a point. Obviously, the return leg is going to be more difficult but we'll definitely go for three points this time around because we know them better now and we'll be at home and we'll also have the advantage of the home support and home conditions. So, it will definitely be an advantage for us in the second leg," Mabokgwane told Pirates TV.

The match against Horoya at the Orlando Stadium has been scheduled to start from 18h00.
