Date: 22 January 2017
Banyana Banyana suffered a 2-0 defeat to France in their international friendly in Saint-Denis on Sunday evening.
South Africa did not enjoy a good start, as the French went ahead after just nine minutes courtesy of strike from Griedge Bathy.
Banyana had the ball in the back of the net after 30 minutes when Andisiwe Mgcoyi tapped home from close range, although the strike was ruled offside.
France eventually doubled their lead moments when Bathy grabbed her second goal on the night.
Desiree Ellis' charges failed to mount any serious attempts at goal, as they went into the break trailing 2-0.
The second half proved to be more of the same for Banyana, as they struggled carve out any clear-cut chances.
Banyana opted for a double change after 70 minutes as Rhoda Mulaudzi and Noko Matlou replaced Janine Van Wyk and Mcgoyi.
Nonetheless, the score remained 2-0 to the French as the referee blew for the full-time whistle.
