Banyana & Thembi Kgatlana Are Nominated For CAF Awards

Banyana Banyana made the five-team shortlist for CAF's Women's National Team of the Year award, while one of their players is up for an individual gong. Read: Singh Nominated For CAF Award Desiree Ellis' side was named as one of the finalists for the award on Monday evening alongside Ghana's U20s, Kenya, Nigeria's U20s and Zimbabwe. South Africa's female team ran out as COSAFA Cup champions back in September and will be hoping to add to their list of achievements in a few weeks' time. Meanwhile, Thembi Kgatlana could scoop herself a trophy of her own after being nominated for the CAF Women's Player of the Year award. She won Player of the Tournament at the COSAFA Cup. The other nominees are: Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria Dalian Quanjian) Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene (Cameroon CSKA Moscow) Rutendo Makore (Zimbabwe Black Rhinos) Tabitha Chawinga (Malawi Kvarnsvedens) According to CAF, the winners will be 'decided by votes from the members of the CAF Technical Development Committee, CAF Media Experts Panel and Independent Media and TV Consultants.' The ceremony will take place on January 4th in Accra, Ghana.
