After years of underperformance in the Africa Cup of Nations, Bafana Bafana, under the guidance of coach Hugo Broos, secured a bronze medal in the latest edition of the AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this year.
Reports have suggested that Tunisia and several European clubs are interested in Broos' services. However, the South African Football Association appears determined to retain the coach him until his contract expires in June 2026.

Insiders within the football governing body suggest that SAFA has even proposed extending his tenure beyond the initial contract period.
Siya sources have informed the crew that SAFA aims to have Broos lead the team to the next World Cup in 2026 and through the 2030 World Cup qualifiers.
"To be honest, the initial contract runs until June 2026, but as we speak, the SAFA executive is negotiating with the coach and his representatives for an additional two-year extension, potentially until June 2028 or even beyond. They want him to stay after the 2026 World Cup to qualify for Afcon 2027 and the 2030 World Cup. So, what I can tell you is that he is likely to stay at least until June 2026," the source revealed to Soccer Laduma.
It is understood that SAFA is also willing to enhance the terms of the new contract to ensure Broos remains content with the team.
"It's not an easy task, but they are considering offering him a more lucrative contract after the current one expires in June 2026. There are many factors to consider, especially financial ones, but the association is working diligently behind the scenes to keep him beyond June 2026," the insider added.

When the Siya crew reached out to SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao for comment, she directed the team to the SAFA media department.
"Please direct all future media queries to Mninawa Ntloko or Namhla Mphelo if he's unavailable," Monyepao told Soccer Laduma.
When contacted, Ntloko also referred the Siya crew to the CEO.
"Could you please speak to the CEO on that issue as I am currently on leave," Ntloko said to Soccer Laduma.
