UFS-Kovsies Can't Afford To Slip Up
UFS-Kovsies head into their match with NMMU-Madibaz sitting pretty in fourth position but knows that one slip could see them fall out of a semi-final spot.   They will, however, be without their inspirational coach Godfrey Tenoff who is currently with the South African team for the intellectually impaired in Brazil as they compete in a world cup.   In the interim, assistant coach Tebogo Motsamai will be taking charge of the students and feels Tenoff's absence will have no effect on the team's performance.   Kovsies have been one of the surprise packages of the competition after picking up seven points from their opening four matches, which included wins over UWC and Limpopo as well as a hard fought 2-2 draw with the very impressive UJ side. Their only blemish came at the hands of defending champions UP-Tuks.   The Bloem students know they are being targeted by the teams below them and will hope their home ground advantage pays off again. They will be without the services of Dumisani Tjomelane as he is currently in Zambia with the SA Students Football team.   Motsamai has shown faith in the same squad who earned a hard fought point against UJ in Round Four of the competition and has all but guaranteed a victory for the home side against the struggling Madibaz.   "The team played exceptionally well against UJ. I think I will be making a mistake if I change it for the upcoming game," he said.   Kovsies have been quietly going about their business as they march on to secure a top four spot.   UFS-Kovsies Squad: 1 Serasengoe Moodie, 4 Marathodi Phillies, 13 Tsoeu Mphezulu, 19 Jarred Meyer, 15 Themba Zimo, 23 Mongezi Mologovane, 10 Simon Modupi, 11 Lehlohonolo Mokoena, 6 Manxubandile Bantshi, 14 Glen Rikhotso, 9 Jay Jay Groenewald, 7 Walter Phori, 24 Dylan O'Brien,  3 Unathi Mabandla, 2 Khauhelo Kholotsa, 12 Kakudi Moreleba, 25 Mokotjo Tebello.   Date: Monday, August 18   Venue: Shimla Park, Bloemfontein   Time: 16:30 (televised live on Supersport 204 and 210)
