Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, who is yet to sign a new contract in England, has now been linked with a sensational move to FC Barcelona.
Reports: Barca Hope To Sign EPL Star In Order To Keep Neymar
According to Don Balon, if the Catalan giants fail to lure Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho to Spain, they will attempt to sign 2014 FIFA World Cup winner Ozil from the Gunners.
The Germany international has just one year left on his contract at Arsenal, and some reports suggest he may not sign an extension.
The Spanish publication claimed that, rather than seeing Ozil move on a free transfer next season, Arsenal might look to make some money off the player who joined them for about £42.5 million (R790 million) in 2013.
Barca are expected to make a massive amount of money if Neymar's reported move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain materialises.
The Catalans have so far lured only Nelson Semedo and Gerard Deulofeu to Spain in this transfer window, but many fans believe they need more marquee signings if they are to compete for trophies next season.
