German Bundesliga Report: Bayern Munich v Augsburg 09 May 2015

German Bundesliga

Result: Bayern Munich 0-1 Augsburg

Date:    09 May 2015

Venue:  Allianz Arena

Raul Bobadilla's second half strike gave Augsburg a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Augsburg started on a great foot as they created the game's first chance with Raul Bobadilla coming close only two minutes into the encounter but Jose Reina was alert to save the shot. Jeong-Ho Hong almost scored a great header from the resulting corner but his effort was just wide.

Bayern Munich seemed to come to life after the Augsburg attack, and Mario Gotze almost grabbed the game's opener two minutes later but his shot was well saved by the Swiss  Marwin Hitz.

Augsburg continued to give Bayern problems and Reina conceded a penalty in the 12th minute of play. Paul Verhaegh failed to hit the target from the spot as his effort hit the post.

The teams were playing great attacking football and creating countless opportunities on goal, but somehow failed to put the ball into the back of the net and the teams headed into the break deadlocked at 0-0.

Bobadilla continued where he left off after the restart as he got another opportunity in the 48th minute but his shot was only inches wide.

Robert Lewandowski responded with an effort of his own two minutes later but Hitz was up for the challenge as he saved the Polish international's shot.

Augsburg regained momentum and Tobias Werner came close in the 55th minute, Reina saving well in the bottom corner. FC Bayern's Mitchell Weiser also sent Hitz to the bottom corner five minutes later but the shot-stopper was more than keen to make the reach.

Bobadilla finally got the best of Reina with a 70th minute shot that gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

The hosts upped the tempo in search of the equalizer but the Augsburg defence stood firm. Jerome Boateng came close in the dying minutes of the game but it was not meant to be as Augsburg sealed the 1-0 victory.

Here is how they lined up:

Bayern Munich: Reina, Dante, Boateng, Bernat, Weiser, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Thiago Alcantara, Muller, Lewandowski, Gotze.

Augsburg: Hitz, Hong Jeong-Ho, Verhaegh, Klavan, Baba Rahman, Kohr, Baier, Esswein, Altintop, Feulner, Bobadilla.
