DFB Pokal Match Report: Hamburger SV 1-3 Bayern Munich 29 October 2014
Bayern Munich booked their spot in the next round of the DFB Pokal with a 3-1 win over Hamburger SV at the Imtech Arena on Wednesday night.    Pep Guardiola's side were looking to return to winning ways, after being held to a 0-0 with Borussia Monchengladbach over the weekend.   Bayern opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute thanks to a composed finish from Robert Lewandowski from six-yards out.   After the early goal, chances were had to come by for both sides, despite Bayern's dominance.   However, Guardiola's men doubled the lead just before the halftime break courtesy of a 40-yard strike from David Alaba, although replays suggest the goalkeeper should have done better.   Bayern added a third 10 minutes after the halftime break with a deflected finish from Franck Ribery, after he was teed up by Juan Bernat.   Ribery came close increasing Bayern's lead in the 73rd minute but his well-taken volley from the edge of the area forced Drobny into a fine save.   Pierre-Michel Lasogga pulled one back for the home side in the 85th minute, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation, as Bayern held on for the win.
