UEFA Champions League

Result: Viktoria Plzen 0-5 Real Madrid

Date: 07 November 2018

Venue: Doosan Arena

Karim Benzema reached a milestone for Real Madrid in their 5-0 win over Viktoria Plzen to reclaim top spot in Group G on Wednesday evening.

Casemiro almost netted an own goal for Los Blancos in the ninth minute after Patrik Hrosovsky's strike ricocheted onto his raised leg and then the crossbar.

Benzema eventually got the opener for Madrid in the 20th minute with a composed finish inside the box after beating two players before slotting past goalkeeper Ales Hruska.

In doing so, Benzema brought up his 200th goal in all competitions for Los Blancos, becoming the seventh player to acheive that feat for the club.

Three minutes later, Casemiro doubled the lead for Santiago Solari's charges with a free header inside the box following a cross from Toni Kroos, 0-2.

Benzema got the third goal for the visitors and completed his brace eight minutes before the break with a simple header at the near post as Madrid.

There was enough time in the half to grab a four as Gareth Bale got on the score-sheet with a half-volley at the back post hit with deadly precision.

Jan Kopic almost got on the scoresheet for the Czech Republic side six minutes after the break with a cracking strike from 25-yards, but his effort was tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The hosts were punished on a counter-attack in the 67th minute as Toni Kroos went through on goal and spotted Hruska off his line, before lobbing the ball into the back of the net, 0-5.

Madrid knocked the ball around with ease in the final stages of the second half to see out the comfortable victory on the night.
