UEFA Champions League
Result: Napoli 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 6 November 2018
Venue: Stadio San Paolo
Napoli maintained their spot at the top of Group C in the UEFA Champions League despite playing to a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
The result combined with Liverpool's 2-0 loss to FK Crvena Zvezda means Napoli and Liverpool both have six points in Group C while PSG are third with five points.
The opening stages of the match saw both sides squandering possession with poor passing in the final third.
The first real attempt on goal only came in the 23rd minute when Kylian Mbappe created some space for himself on the edge of the box, but his ferocious effort shaved the wrong side of the woodwork.
Napoli responded on the half hour mark, but Fabian Ruiz's 20-yard shot went inches wide of the post.
PSG took control of the game as the half moved to a close. The French side were rewarded for their efforts with a goal two minutes into added time when Mbappe slipped Juan Bernat through on goal and he made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 1-0.
Napoli nearly drew level five minutes into the second half when Dries Mertens broke into the box, but he was superbly denied in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Buffon was at it again in the 55th minute, this time producing an acrobatic save to deny Jose Callejon after a powerful struck 14-yard volley.
In the 63rd minute Napoli were able to find the equaliser from the penalty spot courtesy of a strike from Lorenzo Insigne after Buffon committed the foul inside the box, 1-1.
Both teams threw players forward in the final twenty minutes of the match, but neither could find a winner as they shared the spoils.
