UEFA Champions League Group B Report 28 November 2018

PSV Eindhoven 1-2 FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona clinched top spot in Group B after defeating PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in the Netherlands.   It was a first half that Barca would have counted themselves lucky not to have been behind as PSV struck the woodwork on three different ocassions.   The visitors, meanwhile, were stifled at every attempt in the final third as Lionel Messi was surprisingly kept quiet.   Messi eventually opened the scoring on the hour mark as he weaved his way into the box before firing home at the near post.   The Argentine then turned provider in the 70th minute to pick out Gerard Pique, who side-footed the ball into the far corner.   Luuk de Jong pulled a goal back for the hosts late on, but the Catalan giants held on for three points.   Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Inter Milan   Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage got a major boost after defeating Inter Milan at Wembley Stadium.

Spurs came into the match needing to defeat their Italian counter parts, while Inter only needed a point to qualify for the last 16.   However, the first half failed to live up to expectation, with the only real opening coming from Harry Winks, who hit the crossbar with a curling effort.
The game's only goal arrived after 80 minutes thanks to a strike from Christian Eriksen after a well-worked move.   The win sees Spurs move up to second spot in the group, while Inter drop to third. Both sides have seven points.   The Premier League outfit face Barca in their final group game and Inter host PSV on the final matchday.
