Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has become only the seventh player in UEFA Champions League history to score 50 goals in the competition, and achieved this milestone quicker than Cristiano Ronaldo did.

The Poland international scored a brace in Bayern's 5-1 thrashing of Benfica on Tuesday, taking his tally in the competition to 51 goals.
In doing so, Lewandowski joined an illustrious club of just seven players to score 50 goals or more in the tournament.
The 30-year-old needed 77 UCL games to reach the 50-goal mark, with only Ruud van Nistelrooy and Lionel Messi reaching the milestone quicker, according to Opta Sports.

Ronaldo, who is currently the competition's all-time record goalscorer with 121 goals, needed 91 UCL games to score 50 goals in the competition.

The Portuguese superstar reached this milestone in previous club Real Madrid's 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in 2013 – Lewandowski was on the other side, netting all four goals for BVB.
