Pep Guardiola Makes Shock Admission After Manchester City Win

Following Manchester City's narrow win over Schalke in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, Pep Guardiola made a strange admission about his team's chances of winning the competition.

The Spaniard has been successful with the Citizens domestically, but many feel he needs to win the Champions League with the club to take them to the next level.

In the 3-2 win of their round of 16 first leg tie on Wednesday, Guardiola's team made it difficult for themselves as they conceded two penalties in the first-half.

City were then reduced to 10 men when Nicolas Otamendi was sent off with his team losing 2-1, but two late goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling saw the English side complete a terrific comeback.

Despite the result going their way, Guardiola admitted his players are not ready to compete for Europe's biggest club competition.

"It was a great result, we get the first penalty, the second penalty, the red card," he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

"That is not good and we're not ready to challenge for the latter stages, but the result is not good.

"We played good, but we lost some easy balls that we're not allowed to do in the competition. I trust VAR, I'm a big fan. I have arguments, but not this one.

"It's not over. We gave too much to the opponent to be in the game. The game was good, the second half we played with incredible personality. Like at Anfield when we lost 3-0.

"The game was played good, in the end the quality was from Leroy (Sane) - the big players have the quality. The action from Raheem delivered too."
