Salah netted his 16th goal in Europe's elite club competition during the Reds' 1-0 win over Napoli, overtaking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored all of his 15 strikes in the competition so far for Borussia Dortmund, among Africa's top marksmen in UCL history.
The goal was his 14th strike in European competitions for Liverpool – including one in the qualifying round, which does not count towards the competition's official goal statistics.
He also equalled Reds legend Ian Rush's tally of 14 goals in European competitions, with Steven Gerrard, with 30 strikes, now the only Liverpool player with more goals int he tournament.
Overall, though, the Egyptian has struck 16 times in the UCL (excluding qualifiers) already: two for Basel, one for AS Roma, plus 13 for the Reds. As a consequence, Salah is now fourth among the Africa's best goalscorers in the tournament, sitting behind Seydou Doumbia, with 19 goals, Samuel Eto'o, with 33 goals, and record scorer Didier Drogba, with 44 strikes.
