African superstar Mohamed Salah scored his first brace of the 2018/19 season on Wednesday night, and, in doing so, broke a Liverpool record set 70 years ago.

The Egyptian has had a relatively slow start to this campaign but netted twice in the Reds' 4-0 win over Crvena Zvezda, which helped Liverpool go top of their UEFA Champions League group.
Overall, Salah has now scored 50 goals in just 65 appearances since joining Liverpool last season, breaking the previous record set by Albert Stubbins in 1948, according to Daily Mirror journalist David Maddock.
Stubbins needed 77 games to score his first 50 goals for the Reds, while the likes of Fernando Torres, who needed 84 games, and Luis Suarez, who scored his 50th goal after 91 matches, are also among the fastest Liverpool stars to reach the 50-goal mark.
As a consequence Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his superstar.
"It only happens if you work hard, if you are in the right spaces, if your teammates see you in the right moments and if you make the right runs, then you can score. It is an exceptional number and hopefully he can continue," he said, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

The 4-0 win has taken Liverpool to six points in Group C, one ahead of second-placed Napoli and two ahead of French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
