Following Adrian's costly errors in Liverpool's loss to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to blame his second-choice goalkeeper for the defeat.
The Reds lost 3-2 after extra-time to Los Rojiblancos in the second leg of their round of 16 clash at Anfield, which saw them crash out of the competition.
After Roberto Firmino scored Liverpool's second in the 94th minute, goalkeeper Adrian misplaced a pass just three minutes later, which led to Atletico scoring their first away goal of the night.
Joao Felix picked up the ball from the misplaced pass between the halfway line and the Liverpool goal and found Marcos Llorente with a clever pass, who hit the back of the net.
Adrian was criticised for his positioning after giving the ball away, and was also seen by some as the man to blame for the Madrid club's second and third strikes.
Speaking after the game, however, Klopp refused to point the finger at the former West Ham United shot-stopper.
"He did not want to do that, he saved us in so many moments when he played. Since he's here, he had super performances.
"This goal didn't help tonight but that's how it is. I said, if you lose a game, you always lose for some (different) reasons."
