At the beginning of the season, the Reds confirmed the signing of Brazil international Alisson for a fee of around €62 million (R1 billion) to add further stability to an already impressive backline.
After Loris Karius' mistakes in last season's Champions League final, Reds fans have so far been delighted with the assured Alisson, who was once again a hero in their 1-0 win over Napoli on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old pulled off a last-minute stop to deny Arkadiusz Milik, a save that ultimately booked Liverpool's place in the next round of the competition.
Speaking after the game, Klopp insisted that had he known just how important Alisson would become, he would have paid double for him in July.
"If I knew Alisson was this good, I would have paid double," he said, according to the Daily Express.
"The goal Mo (Salah) scored – what a goal, unbelievable – but the save Ali (Allison) made, I have no words for that.
"That was the lifesaver tonight.
"It was wild and there were lots of counter-attacks, but we were ready for that.
"That is Anfield live and in colour. Wow, what a game.
"I am not sure a manager could be prouder of a team than I am."
