Former Moroka Swallows goalkeeper Ndubuisi Egbo's hopes of guiding Tirana to a spot in the UEFA Champions League were ended after a defeat to Crvena Zvezda.
Tirana advanced to the second round of Champions League qualifiers after defeating Dinamo Tbilisi 2-0 last weekend, which saw Egbo become the first African coach to qualify for the tournament.
Belgrade, meanwhile, cruised into second round after thrashing Europa 5-0, with El Fardou Mohamed Ben Nabouhane bagging a hat-trick on the night.
The Serbian outfit already had a taste of Champions League last season, although they finished bottom of Group B after some tough losses to Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite Belgrade's exploits in the previous clash, neither side was able to find through the opening 45 minutes as both goalkeepers did not have much work to do.
The visitors did eventually get the game's only goal just after the hour mark, with Tomane bagging his first goal in qualifying, which will be an important away goal.
While Tirana's Champions League journey is now over, the former Nigerian shot-stopper has already guided Tirana to a 25th league trophy.
