Serie A leaders Juventus were forced to put their title celebrations on hold after suffering defeat to relegation-threatened SPAL on Saturday afternoon. Ronaldo, who scored against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League this week, was rested ahead of the second leg encounter on Tuesday evening. The Old Lady only needed a point to secure the league title, but Massimiliano Allegri went with wholesale changes for the encounter, SPAL were eager to spoil the party for Juve and they went close to opening the scoring on 15 minutes through Murgia's bicycle kick, which Mattia Perin managed to collect. Moise Kean was drafted back in to the Juve line up and he repaid by the faith by opening the scoring on the half an hour mark, turning home a cros from Joao Cancelo. It was an evenly contested half, but SPAL should have levelled matters on the stroke of halftime as Floccari sent his header wide from eight-yards out. Four minutes into the second half, the home side were level as Kevin Bonifazi sent a downward header past Perin. The home side looked more threatening than the youthful Juventus and they were rewarded with a second goal on 74 minutes, with Floccari getting on the score-sheet. Juve threw on Federico Bernardeschi in the final 10 minutes of the half in an attempt t bag an equaliser, but it was not enough as SPAL held on for the win to boost their survival hopes.
