Serie A
Result: Juventus 1-1 Torino
Date: 03 May 2019
Venue: Allianz Stadium
Cristiano Ronaldo struck late in the second half to earn Serie A champions Juventus a point in the Turin derby against Torino on Friday evening.
Juve gave starts to Moise Kean and Leonardo Spinazzola from the 1-1 draw against Inter Milan in the Derby d'italia, while Torino gave a first league start to Brazilian Bremer. Chasing down a top-four spot, Torino made a good start with the first shot on target on 13 minutes through Andre Belotti. Just three minutes later, Juve fell behind after Sasa Lukic dispossessed Miralem Pjanic to find the top corner from a tight angle. Juve nearly responded immediately through a half-volley from Blaise Matuidi off Ronaldo's looping ball, but Salvatore Sirigu pulled off a near-post save. As ever Juve kept pushing for the equaliser, but failed to open up each other with countless efforts going off target. Keen to preserve their lead, Torino made a change in the final 20 minutes following a quiet spell as Daniele Baselli replaced Alex Berenguer. Juve made their first change on 78 minutes, with Colombian Juan Cuadrado hooked off for Matheus Pereira. The recently-crowned Italian champions levelled on 84 minutes when Ronaldo leaped high to guide home Spinazzola's cross. Deep into the final few minutes, both sides pushed for the winner but opted for a draw that puts Torino's European hopes in jeopardy.
