Juventus regained top spot in Serie A after Cristiano Ronaldo netted a winning goal in the dying stages to overcome a stubborn Genoa on Wednesday evening.
Juve welcomed back Ronaldo while Matthijs de Ligt was sacrificed for Leonardo Bonucci. Meanwhile, former Inter Milan Goran Pandev starting for Genoa.
The champions, who dropped points to Lecce over the weekend, started with intent and purpose which saw Paulo Dybala firing a half-volley at Andrei Radu who tipped for a corner.
Radu frustrated Dybala yet again with an outstretched palm following a one-on-one opportunity inside the area on 33 minutes. Juve eventually opened the deadlock two minutes later when Bonucci headed in at the near post following a corner from Ronaldo.
The lead lasted only five minutes when Christian Kouame's effort outside the area wrong-footed Giangluigi Buffon before bustling the net.
Following a free-flowing first stanza, Juve hit the ground running straight from the restart when Dybala headed home a cross but he was flagged for offside.
Genoa were then brought to ten men on 54 minutes with Francesco Cassata receiving a second yellow for pulling the shirt of Dybala with the latter on-route to goal.
Another dismal followed for the Rossoblu within three minutes as goalkeeper Federico Machetti saw a straight red from the bench after disputing an off-field decision involving Pandev and Dybala.
Maurizio Sarri's men started knocking on the door more frequently; however Radu pushed Federico Bernardeschi's sharp effort round the post in the final 20 minutes.
Juve also ended with a man short three minutes to the end with Rabiot giving a second yellow for a sliding challenge on Sinan Gumus.
Ronaldo waved a piece of magic at the death seconds after having a goal disallowed as he earned a penalty following a foul in the area. The Portuguese international stepped up and rammed home the winner to take the Old Lady back to the top of the table.
