Result: Inter Milan 4-0 Lecce
Date: 26 August 2019
Venue: San Siro
Romelu Lukaku found the back of the net on his official Inter Milan debut as Antonio Conte's side began the season with a 4-0 win over newly promoted Lecce on Monday evening.
The former Manchester United forward was handed his official debut for the Serie A outfit alongside Lautaro Martinez, who was reportedly a target for FC Barcelona.
The first goal of Conte era arrived through one of the tried and tested players as Marcelo Brozovic opened the scoring after 21 minutes after being teed up by Kwadwo Asamoah.
Inter managed to double their lead three minutes later through on-loan Sassuolo winger Stefano Sensi, who skipped past one challenge before drilling the ball into the bottom corner.
Lecce, meanwhile, managed to see a bit more of the ball in the latter stages of the first half but they were unable to trouble Inter shot-stopper Samir Handanovic in the opening 45 minutes.
After a slow start to the second half, the hosts managed to bag their third goal on the hour mark as Lukaku slotted home from close range after Gabriel failed to hold onto Martinez's initial strike.
It got worse for the newly promoted side after being reduced to 10 men when Diego Farias, who was only on for 20 minutes, was shown a straight red card for dangerous challenge on Nicolo Barela.
Inter were not done there as Antonio Candreva rounded off the scoring with six minutes remaining with a superb strike into the top corner as Conte's troops move to the top of the league.
