Result: AS Roma 2-0 Juventus
Date: 12 May 2019
Venue: Stadio Olimpico
Serie A champions Juventus suffered third defeat of the league season after going down 2-0 at the hands of AS Roma, who have boosted their top four push.
The visitors nearly got off a fine start when Juan Cuadrado was denied by a brilliant save from Antonio Mirante after just seven minutes. Roma went even closer in the 18th minute as Pellegrini rattled the upright upright with a powerful effort from distance after Ronaldo had lost possession. The Roman outfit still had aspirations of finish in the top six, which made for an entertaining affair as both sides did not hold back from the onset. The chances continued to fall in the latter stages of the half, with Cristiano Ronaldo going closest with a left-footed strike that sailed inches wide just before the break. Roma came out with the same intensity in the second half and that nearly brought the opening goal through Stefan El Shaarawy, who blazed over from close range. Juve had the ball in the back of the net just after the hour mark, but Ronaldo's strike was ruled out for offside. With 11 minutes to play, Roma eventually got the break as Edin Dzeko played fine pass into Alessandro Florenzi, who lifted the ball over the on-rushing Wojciech Szczesny. Massimiliano Allegri responded by throwing on Joao Cancelo and Alex Sandro for the final stages in attempt to snag an equaliser. However, the hosts sealed the win in time added on, with Dzeko turning home a cross from Cengiz Under which sees them move up to sixth spot, one point behind fourth-place Inter Milan.
