Romelu Lukaku Targeted With Racist Chants

Romelu Lukaku scores in Inter Milan's 2-1 win

Following his big-money move from Manchester United to Inter Milan in this transfer window, Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has become the latest victim of racist abuse in Serie A.

The 26-year-old has made a good impression in his first two official outings for Inter, having already struck twice.

Lukaku found the back of the net in the Nerazzurri's 2-1 win at Cagliari on Sunday night, but his strike and Inter's win were overshadowed by racist chants from supporters behind the goal.

According to GiveMeSport, monkey noises were heard coming from sections of the home crowd as he stepped up to take a penalty and then found the bottom right-hand corner.

After the ball hit the back of the net, Lukaku celebrated with his teammates, but turned around to look over to where the provocative chants were coming from.

Former Juventus striker Moise Kean had similar problems away at Cagliari last season, while the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Sulley Muntari and Samuel Eto'o have also experienced this at the Sardegna Arena.

Some of Lukaku's teammates were seen gesturing for those racist fans to stop their chants, but it now remains to be seen whether or not appropriate action will be taken.
